Maine Seacoast United U16 Boys Played Matches Against Premier League Clubs: Manchester United, Liverpool and West Ham United Academy Teams in England – February 2015.
Several local boys’ soccer players enjoyed the trip of a lifetime with the Seacoast United U-16 team last month as they traveled to England, touring historic stadiums, watching professional games and playing three matches against English Academy teams.
After training with CogSports prior to the trip, Seacoast’s best result was a 2-2 draw against West Ham United, as Greely’s Hunter Graham scored a goal (the teams are photographed together after the match). Seacoast then lost to Manchester United, 3-1 (despite a Graham goal), and lost to Liverpool, 7-1 (Cheverus’ Brady Levesque had the goal). Other local players who made the trip included Falmouth’s Greyson Cohen and Jonah Spiegel, North Yarmouth Academy’s Xander Bartone, Portland’s Tim Baker and Scarborough’s Garrett King.
Scott Atherley and Martyn Keen served as coaches.
“With some unique pre-trip work with the team from CogSports (led by locals, Walter Corey, Jordan Denning and Brandon Rubenstein), we were able to take with us a mental and emotional edge we didn’t have before,” Atherley said.
